Council 13517’s first attempt at running the Knights of Columbus “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster contest turned out to be successful after all! The contest allows boys & girls, ages 5 through 14 (three different divisions though), the opportunity to create and submit 11×17″ posters with the “Keep Christ in Christmas” theme. Posters are judged on Slogan, Visuals, and Overall Impact. The contest information was sent home in the IHM School student folders, and a single winner emerged, Ava Shaker of Akron, Ohio! As you can see from the picture, Ava created a beautiful poster featuring the Star of Bethlehem, baby Jesus in the manger, and a pretty pink princess angel, as well as presents throughout the drawing. Her slogan “On CHRISTmas day say Happy BIRTHday” emphasizes the birth of Christ and we think it was a smart and creative way to drive home the real reason for the season! With this first attempt at the poster contest now under our belt, the Council now has plans to continue to run and promote it each year! Each winner will be presented with a certificate and gift card for their submission. Congratulations Ava!
