This year’s Knights of Columbus Council 13517 Free Throw Competition at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Community Center went on as planned despite COVID challenges. On Sunday, January 17, led by council Community Program leader Kurt Dirker, Brother Knights gathered to ensure all safety protocols were followed including social distance, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, and proper hand sanitizing. This contest is open to boys and girls ages 9 through 14. We had four (4) young men show up to test their skills and drain the most baskets out of 15 possible free throws. This year’s winners are Kai Jones, age 12, and Tyler Shadeed, age 13. All participants received a certificate, with Kai & Tyler receiving a Champions certificate and gift card. Thanks to all who helped make this a resounding success. Winners have the opportunity to compete in the District competition tentatively planned for March 7, 2021.
