Another successful Christ on the Corner event is in the books for 2021. With over 100 IHM parishioners volunteering throughout the community, the impact was undoubtedly felt far and wide through the number of people helped. After a very nice continental breakfast, and prayers and well-wishing led by Deacon Will Yoho, participants went out into the area to spread the message of Christ through time and talent.
This year, Brother Knights and volunteers worked with Habitat for Humanity of Summit County at the latest job site on Lod St. in Akron, Ohio. This band of workers arrived to a single floor home and transformed it into a second floor and added a garage! From 9:00a until 3:30p, these diligent volunteers set up the jobsite, unloaded prefabbed interior & exterior walls, constructed the entire second floor exterior, constructed the garage, and then cleaned up before leaving. We were blessed to have Deacon Joe Menkhaus as part of our crew, and what a wonderful addition to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish he is! He even took time during the lunch break to answer questions on the seminary, future priesthood, school, etc. Just a great sport and an exemplary worker!
A special thanks to Carl Koehler for being the Site Leader for our group, Paul Musso for organizing this event and others related to Christ on the Corner, and all the Knights and volunteers that worked in the hot sun to make a huge difference to a worthy organization!
